OVERVIEW

How and where ETFs trade has been a source of great focus for the European ETF industry given the opaque nature of the market. With the majority of trades still occurring ‘over-the-counter’, request-for-quote (RFQ) platforms and other less lit venues continue to dominate the order book. The much-needed arrival of a consolidated tape in Europe could shift the dial towards exchanges but this is yet to occur.
